Widespread rain showers and mountain snow for the next couple of days.
A slow-moving weather system will bring rain and mountain snow through Sunday morning. Temperatures will be mainly in the 40s to around 50 for highs Friday afternoon in the lower elevations with clouds and intermittent rain showers.
The mountains could see some heavy snowfall, with elevations above 8000 feet seeing accumulations of 8 to 16 inches. 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible in the mountain foothills, and some slushy roadways could also develop with some snow accumulation around Red Lodge.
For Billings and areas in Southeast Montana, the best chances for rain will be Friday night through Saturday morning. Showers could linger Saturday evening with a few morning showers Sunday.
The trend is toward warmer and drier conditions returning early next week.
