A round of cool and wet weather will start the week.

The storm system that started to move in Sunday will continue to bring cooler temperatures and rain and snow showers. Highs Monday will be mainly in the 40s to mid 50s.

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for the Beartooth and Bighorn Mountains. Accumulating snow is expected above 5000 feet, with accumulations of a foot or more possible in the higher elevations. Snow will also accumulate in the mountain foothills over the next couple of days.

The coolest and wettest conditions are likely early in the week, but a chance of showers will linger over the next few days.

Billings forecast:

Monday… Showers likely, increasing in the afternoon. Otherwise cloudy with a high near 50. North breeze 5 to 15 mph.

Monday night… Cloudy, with showers likely. A low of about 40.

Tuesday… Mostly cloudy with showers likely especially in the early morning but decreasing through the afternoon and evening. High around 58.
