A series of disturbances keep us watching for scattered spring showers this week. And flooding concerns will stick around a while.
With one system exiting eastern Montana early Monday, another shortwave disturbance will keep a chance of mainly mountain showers going on Tuesday.
A high pressure ridge will keep the lower elevations dry through the middle of the work week. By Friday and through the weekend, the chance of showers redevelops.
With temperatures warming to around seasonal averages by midweek, highs in the upper 40s/low 50s will allow enough snow melt to aggravate some localized flooding. Additional precipitation form the showers may produce ice jams on some of the rivers and streams as well as flows increase.
Ice jams can break at any time, sending waves of water downstream. Areas along the Musselshell River in particular should be ready for rapidly rising water.
