Windy to start weekend, snow and cold to end it
0 0

Click for 7 Day ForecastThe weekend starts with the wind, and ends with cold and snow.

Winds will be strong down the mountain slopes again Friday, with Livingston and Nye see wind gusts to around 60 miles an hour. Strong winds will affect travel from Big Timber to Harlowton.

Billings will be breezy, with areas of patchy blowing snow possible from Billings to the West through the day on Friday.

As a disturbance moves through the area later today, the winds will subside but the chance of snow goes up. Where the bull’s-eye will end up for some of the heavier snow remains in question, 1 to 3 inches of snow seems reasonable across much of the area.

Snow will decrease Saturday morning, and then pick up again with higher snow totals Saturday night lingering through Monday morning. Areas in the Beartooth, Absaroka, and Crazy mountains could pick up 1 to 2 feet of new snow.

Friday will be the warmest day overall with readings in the mid-20s to mid 30s. That’s still cooler than seasonal averages.

Saturday will cool a bit with more readings in the 20s to low 30s area

Highs by Sunday will be mainly in the teens, with only the single digits for the warmest readings on Monday. By Tuesday morning, lows will drop to the teens below zero and could be close to some record cold temperatures.
