Despite a chilly morning, Tuesday afternoon highs are destined for the upper 20s and 30s with lots of sun.
But winds will be gusty.
The Livingston/Nye area will experience 60 to 70 mph gusts, and Big Timber to Harlowton can expect up to 55 mph top winds. Billings will see 15 to 25 mph sustained winds, with gusts to 40 mph possible.
The wind will be lighter east of Yellowstone County.
Periods of wind continue overnight with Wednesday morning readings in the teens and 20s.
Despite increasing clouds, highs on Wednesday will top off in the 30s to low 40s. Snow and colder temperatures return Wednesday night through Thursday.
Billings forecast:
Today: Sunny, with a high near 35. Wind chill values as low as -10. Southwest wind around 15 to 25 mph.
Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 26. West southwest wind 15 to 25 mph.
Wednesday: A 30% chance of rain and light snow later in the day. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. West wind 15 to 25 mph.
