The trend is warmer Tuesday and Wednesday. Then snow and cold return.
Light snow showers will continue across the area early Tuesday, but trending towards drier and somewhat warmer conditions for the afternoon. Expect a mostly cloudy afternoon with highs in the mid 20s around Billings.
Once again, temperatures will trend a bit colder East of Billings and warmer into the mountain foothills.
Winds will increase around the Livingston area by this evening. Gusts of 60 to 70 miles an hour possible tonight and again tomorrow.
Some of that wind will spread towards Billings, with gusts to around 40 miles an hour possible Wednesday. Temperatures will warm, and highs will hit near 40 in Billings Wednesday afternoon.
The same trend towards warmer temperatures to the West and cooler to the East continues.
A quick surge of colder air hits the area Thursday. Pacific moisture overrunning the chilly air will produce more snow.
The system is still too much of a question to predict reliable snow totals, but areas of heavy snow are possible.
Billings forecast:
Tuesday… A chance of light snow showers especially in the morning, and cloudy to mostly cloudy. Highs will move up to near 25.
Tuesday night… Mostly cloudy with temperatures dropping to the mid teens during the evening and then beginning to warm overnight.
Wednesday… Mostly cloudy with isolated showers. Periods of wind with gusts to around 40 mph possible. A high near 40.
