Thursday may be the calm before the storm.
Temperatures in southern Montana and northern Wyoming will be mainly into the 20s to low 30s. Colder air remains across the Eastern plains with only single digits in teens for highs from Forsyth to Miles City extending to the north and east.
Expect the generally partly cloudy day with the chilly breeze.
Showers will start to move into the mountain foothills by this evening, with temperatures ranging from single digits below zero in northeastern Montana to the teens and 20s above zero through southern Montana northern Wyoming.
The trend on Friday is a little warmer but with scattered rain and snow showers increasing through the day.
