Sunny but cold
0 0

Sunday night’s snowfall left some slick conditions. Sunny but cold conditions are left behind.

Despite plenty of afternoon sunshine, expect readings to stay in the single digits around Billings today, with readings below zero all day in the Eastern plains. Closer the mountain foothills, areas like Red Lodge to Livingston could be 20 to 30° for a high Monday afternoon.

With fresh snow and ice, be careful of some snow and ice melting enough on roads and sidewalks to re-freeze into slick ice.

Overnight will be the coldest period in the short-term. Tuesday morning temperatures will be mainly below zero, with bitter cold wind chills in Southeast Montana.

Readings will warm mainly to the 20s on Tuesday, and 30s on Wednesday.

Thursday looks like the warmest day, with a chance of hitting highs in the mid to lower 40s. A chance of snow returns Thursday night and temperatures begin to drop again.

Billings forecast:

ML King Junior Day… Sunny and cold with a high near 9. Wind chill values as low as -10. Southerly breeze 5 to 15 mph.

Monday night… Mostly clear, with a low of about -2. Windchill values as low as -20.

Tuesday… Sunny with a high around 28.
