A combination of cold air close to the surface, and a lot of tropical moisture streaming over top brings the potential for a continuous stream of snow Thursday through as late as Saturday morning. That could mean snow totals his high as 6 to 14 inches across much of the region.

For Wednesday, temperatures will be in the teens to mid 20s with an increasing chance of late day snow. 1 to 2 inches are possible early Thursday.

Temperatures drop to the single digits in teens on Thursday, and the chance of snow starts to increase through the day. Good snow making weather will set up late Thursday into Friday morning, and accumulations start to add up to 6 to 8 inches.

Additional snow is likely on Friday, and snow totals will really start to add up.

Be ready for the potential serious travel concerns, even around city streets in the area. Mountain snow could add up to 2 feet or more.

In addition, temperatures will be bitter cold with readings in the single digits and additional wind chill values.

The snow will end Saturday but the cold remains. In addition, areas of blowing snow seem likely.

Billings forecast:

Wednesday… Cloudy with an increasing chance of light snow in the afternoon. A high near 24.

Wednesday night… A low around 3°. Snow is likely, with an inch or two in accumulation possible.

Thursday… A high of around 10. Snow will start to fall mainly in the afternoon and overnight. Light snow during the day increasing through Friday morning.
