Windy, dry, and very warm for mid-December
0 0

Click for 7 Day Forecast Tuesday promises to be windy, warm, and dry.

Our strong will high-pressure ridge across the Western US gets squashed a little Tuesday as a cold front starts to move in from Canada. The effect will be a warm-up, with wind and near record high temperatures.

Afternoon highs will be mainly in the 50s and could hit some low 60s in Southeast Montana and around Sheridan, Wyoming.

If Billings reaches 57 at the airport, we tie the December 12, 1988, record.

Along with the warm in the sunshine comes wind. Gusts around Billings will be up to 40 mph, with the Livingston area seeing potential gusts of 70 mph.

With low humidity plus the wind and warm temperatures, fire risk will be elevated across the region.

Billings forecast:

Tuesday… Sunny, with a high near 56. Westerly wind 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

Tuesday night… Clouds during the evening, gradually clearing overnight. West winds 15 to 25 mph. An overnight low of about 35.

Wednesday… Mostly sunny, with a high around 49. Westerly wind 10 to 20 mph.
