Rain and snow fade while winds increase

Click for 7 Day Forecast While the bulk of the moisture seems to be staying South of Billings, our best chance of precipitation is Friday morning rain and snow showers. Windy and gradually warming conditions will follow.

Bands of rain and snow showers will persist through Friday morning. Areas closer to the mountains, like Red Lodge, could pick up a quick 1 to 2 inches of snow, with rain showers or a rain/snow mix favoring areas from Billings to the South.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Beartooth and Absaroka mountains with 8 to 14 inches of new snow possible for the high elevations.

I 90 could be slushy from Lodge Grass South to Sheridan, Wyoming until Friday afternoon.

Areas from Billings to the North will stay drier.

Winds will increase during Friday afternoon. Gusts around Livingston could reach 40 mph. Much of the rest of the region, including Billings, will have sustained winds of 15 to 25 miles an hour through much of the weekend.

High temperatures will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s Friday and Saturday.

Billings forecast:

Friday… Morning rain and snow showers will turn to a partly to mostly cloudy afternoon. High temperatures will be near 42. West winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph.

Friday night… Partly cloudy with a westerly wind 15 to 25 miles an hour. An overnight low around 27.

Saturday… Mostly sunny and continued breezy. About 43 for the high.
