Warm before the storm

Click for 7 Day Forecast Sunny, warm, and less wind for Tuesday. Temperatures spike Wednesday afternoon. Wind, rain, snow, and colder temperatures will follow.

Tuesday will be warm and dry with a lighter wind. Occasional gusts of 20 to 30 miles an hour are still possible.

With lots of sunshine, regional temperatures will reach mainly the 60s Tuesday afternoon.

A strong cold front moves through the region by late Wednesday. Ahead of the front, temperatures will pop into the 70s Wednesday afternoon, and could be close to some record highs.

The very warm temperatures will combine with low humidity and wind gusts to around 50 mph to greatly increase wildfire concerns by Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Gusty winds will continue through much of Wednesday night. Rain showers and some areas of snow will move through the area Wednesday evening through Thursday morning along and behind the cold front.

Thursday will be much colder with less wind.

Billings forecast:

Tuesday… Sunny, with a high near 69. Westerly wind 10 to 20 mph.

Tuesday night… Mostly clear, with a low near 49. Winds begin to increase overnight.

Wednesday… Sunny, with a high near six. The record high is 78, set in 1977. Winds increase with gusts as high as 50 mph.
