Showers and chilly tonight, warm and dry next week

Friday will start with sunshine, with increasing afternoon clouds. High temperatures will be mainly in the 50s, trending a little warmer from Billings to the East.

A mix of rain and snow showers will develop from West to East across the region during Friday afternoon and evening hours. The mountains and foothills could pick up some snow, with up to 6 inches in the high country.

For the lower elevations, rain showers with a bit of snow mixed in by early Saturday seems more likely. Accumulations will be light, but a few areas could see bursts of brief rain or snow so be ready for changing conditions.

Saturday will stay cool, with a chance of showers ending during the morning and the sun returning for the afternoon. Highs will be mainly in the 40s to low 50s.

The trend will be warmer and drier early next week. High temperatures will peak Monday and Tuesday with readings in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Billings forecast:

Friday… Mostly sunny, with increasing afternoon clouds. A high near 57.

Friday night… A chance of rain showers during the evening, then a chance of rain and snow overnight. Otherwise, cloudy to mostly cloudy with a low of about 34.

Saturday… A chance of morning showers, otherwise decreasing afternoon clouds. Sunny to mostly sunny by later in the day, and around 51 for the high.
