Cooler, but fire risk and smoke remain
0 0

Click for 7 Day ForecastDespite cooler temperatures, critical fire conditions continue. The good news is that air-quality may improve through the day.

As a Canadian cold front moves through the area, northerly winds will increase this morning and could be gusty at times through this afternoon.

This cooler Canadian air will drop temperatures down into the 70s for highs. But the humidity remains low, and with the wind in the mix, wildfire risk remains high.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 9 PM this evening for all of south-central and Southeast Montana, and Sheridan County Wyoming.

Air-quality could improve through this afternoon, as the winds push down from the North. Some of the smoky haze in the air above us will likely remain.

It will feel chilly Tuesday morning, with lows dropping into the upper 30s and 40s.

Billings forecast:

Labor Day… Sunny with areas of smoke. A high near 75. North breeze 5 to 15 mph with stronger gusts at times.

Monday night… Mostly clear and cool, with a low around 48. Light Northeast wind.

Tuesday… Sunny, with a high of about 77.
