Click Here for 7 Day ForecastAn exiting cold front pushes our temperatures down slightly for Friday. By Sunday, we could be close to record high temperatures. In between, more smoke and more potential for new wildfires.

West to Northwest winds will increase this afternoon, especially in areas East of Billings. With the wind added to our already hot and dry conditions, a Red Flag Warning for critical fire weather conditions will be in effect for Southeast Montana through this evening.

Otherwise, expect a sunny but smoky day with high temperatures mainly in the 80s for Friday. Winds of 10 to 20 mph from the West should be widespread.

Some smoky haze will remain tonight and tomorrow, with an otherwise clear to mostly clear overnight. Lows will be in the 50s to low 60s early Saturday.

Temperatures begin to climb Saturday, with readings mainly in the mid to lower 90s. The sky will be filled with more sun and more smoke.

Temperatures peak on Sunday with readings in the 90s and even a 100° reading is possible. If the Billings airport reaches 97, it will tie the 1978 record for September 3. Wildfire smoke may keep that from happening.

Billings forecast:

Friday… Widespread smoke decreasing a little in the afternoon. Otherwise, sunny with a high of about 88. West wind 10 to 20 mph.

Friday night… Clear with areas of smoke. Around 59 early Saturday for the low temperature.

Saturday… Sunny and hot with areas of smoke. Near 94 for the high temperature.
