A chance of storms ahead of a big cool down

Click for 7 Day Forecast A chance of thunderstorms Tuesday evening comes just before much cooler temperatures for Wednesday.

A weather disturbance will bring an increased chance for thunderstorms by Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. There is a chance for a few strong to severe storms especially from Billings to the East. Damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain are the main thunderstorm threats.

During the day, Tuesday afternoon highs will be mainly into the mid-80s in the mountain foothills to the mid-90s from Billings towards the East. Clouds will increase as a disturbance moves through later in the day.

Wednesday will start with readings in the 50s and 60s as showers and thunderstorms could linger into Wednesday morning.

Behind the disturbance, Wednesday afternoon promises to be substantially cooler. High temperatures will be mainly in the 70s tomorrow with a decreasing chance of showers through the morning.

High temperatures will start to edge back up to the 80s through the weekend. Overnight readings will be in the 50s to around 60 each morning.

Billings forecast:

Tuesday… Mostly sunny during the day, and hot. A high near 94. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon that could produce gusty winds and small hail.

Tuesday night… A chance of thunderstorms through the evening. Some storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. A low of about 60.

Wednesday… A slight chance of morning showers, otherwise mostly sunny. Much cooler, with a high around 76.
