As an approaching cold front moves from West to East across the region Thursday afternoon, clouds and wind will increase. High temperatures will hit the 90s to triple digits, the hottest readings from Billings to the East.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop over the mountains and push out across the plains during the afternoon and evening. Strong to severe storms with damaging wind and large hail are possible, especially along the Eastern third of Montana through the evening hours.
Winds will shift to the Northwest, and breezy conditions stronger gusts are possible through Friday. Expect slightly cooler temperatures Friday, although the relative humidity will remain low.
