Threat of thunderstorms Tuesday
0 0

Despite a cool down, a threat of thunderstorms develops throughout Tuesday. Damaging wind, hail, and dangerous lightning are the biggest threats.

As a cold front moves from West to East across the region, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible through the day and into the late evening. The main hazard will be strong winds. However, there also could be hail with some of the storm cells.

The latest analysis suggests Billings may have the best chance of storms during the early afternoon.

Dry and breezy conditions could develop behind the front, increasing the risk of wildfires from lightning strikes.

Otherwise, expect the cloudy to mostly cloudy day with a 40% to 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the upper 70s to mid 80s.

Things get quieter overnight, with temperatures dropping into the 50s and most locations.

For Wednesday, expect highs in the upper 70s to about 80 with a mix of clouds and sun. Isolated showers or thunderstorms possible.

Billings forecast:

Tuesday… Cloudy to mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. A high near 82.

Tuesday night… A chance of showers and thunderstorms during the evening. So the storms could produce gusty winds and hail. Decreasing clouds overnight, with a low at about 56.

Wednesday… Partly sunny with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Around 78 for a high.
