Rainfall will spread across the area today, especially West of a line from around Harlowton, to Roundup, extending south to Billings, and continuing down toward Sheridan Wyoming.
Rainfall totals of around an inch will be widespread, with some areas receiving 2 inches of total rainfall. With the potential of strong downpours, a report or two could hit 2 to 3 inches.
Above 7000 feet, snowfall totals of 12 to 18 inches are expected. Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for these areas, with hazardous travel likely, with possible power outages and broken tree limbs. The chilly wet weather will put a stress on young livestock.
For areas East of Billings, the chance of rain as lower. Expect a mix of clouds and sun and a few showers. Winds could be strong in these areas with up to 40 mph wind gusts.
The chance of rain will decrease Thursday. However, unsettled weather will continue to bring a chance of showers often on through the weekend.
