Click for 7 Day Forecastven as we warm up a bit for this afternoon, the next round of rain and snow showers is developing. The end of the work week is on track to be cool and damp.
High temperatures Wednesday will be mainly in the 50s, despite some patchy morning fog. Winds will be light, with a partly to mostly cloudy sky through most of the area.
Scattered showers will develop in areas west of Billings Wednesday, and spread toward Billings heading east by Wednesday afternoon and evening. A few isolated lightning strikes are possible west of Billings.
Showers become more numerous Thursday and Thursday night, continuing into Friday. Heavy mountain snow is once again expected. Significant snow is possible over the Bighorn Mountains once again, and a Winter Storm Watch is in effect there.
Some locations from Billings extending southeasterly toward Sheridan, Wyoming could pick up over an inch of total rain and/or melted snow through Friday. As we saw with Tuesday’s system, the highest totals could be in Northern Wyoming.
There are some concerns about rises in streams and creeks; ponding of water in low-lying areas; muddy rural roads; and stress on young livestock.
