Thursday will be highlighted by sunshine and dry conditions. Highs will range from the 50s in the mountain foothills to the mid-60s around Billings. Winds will be light for the most part, at 5-15 mph.

By this afternoon, the mountains will see an increased chance of precipitation as the next storm system approaches the area. This will continue to spread from west to east overnight. Lows will be in the mid-30s to mid-40s.

Some locations from Billings to the west and south could pick up ½ inch to an inch of precipitation through Friday. The mountains, especially the Bighorns, could see accumulating snowfall. The Beartooth foothills around Red Lodge could pick up an inch or two in snow.

The rest of the area Friday has the chance of rain showers, with a cooler and cloudy day. Highs will be in the mid-40s to about 60. Temperatures will be warmer east of Billings, where the chance of rain in lower.

Billings forecast:

Thursday…Sunny, with a high around 66. Light southerly wind.

Thursday night…Mostly cloudy, and then cloudy. Showers likely overnight, as the temperatures drop to about 43.

Friday…Showers likely. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 50.
