As a high-pressure ridge builds in today, expect a mix of clouds and sunshine. Highs in the 65 to 70° range can be expected around Billings to the West. It will be just a bit cooler to the East.

Winds will increase around the Livingston and surrounding area this evening. Mostly cloudy overnight, with readings mainly in the upper 30s to 40s early Thursday.

A low-pressure trough and associated cold front move in Thursday, the warmest temperatures will shift East of Billings. Depending on the timing of the front, Billings could be in the upper 50s to mid 60s for a high. Winds will increase to about 15 to 25 miles an hour across much of the area.

After a cooler Friday with temperatures mainly in the 50s during the afternoon, Saturday’s temperatures will soar. Highs in the low 70s are on target. If Billings reaches 71, it will tie the record high set in 2004.

Sunday will begin a transition into cooler temperatures for next week. By Monday and Tuesday, expect highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s.

Billings forecast:

Wednesday… Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Southwest breeze 5 to 15 mph.

Wednesday night… Mostly cloudy, and about 43 for the low. Light breeze.

Thursday… Partly to mostly cloudy, with a chance of an afternoon shower. A high around 61.
