There’s a lot of uncertainty in the forecast because this line between the colder air dropping down from Canada, and the warmer air to the south of it will fluctuate. Temperatures look on track to be mainly the 40s all around our area Wednesday, but will see a bigger contrast in the readings for Thursday.

For Wednesday, area rain and snow showers in a cloudy to mostly cloudy sky. Tonight, colder air starts to move in creating area snow showers. Much of the area will pick up 1 to 3 inches of snow overnight.

For Thursday, temperatures just don’t warm with highs staying mainly in the 20s to low 30s around Billings. Areas North the Billings will stay colder, but South and West of Billings, including Red Lodge; Livingston; and Cody and Sheridan, Wyoming will still warm into the upper 30s to low 40s with less chance of rain and snow.

The Billings area will likely see 4 to 8 inches of snow from Wednesday through Friday. Temperatures remain chilly, but with less chance of snow Friday afternoon through Saturday.

Billings forecast:

Wednesday… Generally mostly cloudy, with a chance of snow or rain showers. A high of about 48.

Wednesday night… Cloudy with a chance of rain or snow showers in the evening, and then snow possible overnight. 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible. A low of about 26.

Thursday… Temperatures will hover in the 20s to about 30° all day. Cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Around 2 inches of new accumulation.
