Today could easily be the warmest day since mid-November. But, the transition to colder and wetter weather is a swift one.

Gusty winds could be particularly hazardous today in the usual areas around Livingston and Nye on I 90, extending up US 191 toward Harlowton. But, there is also the potential for very gusty winds through southern Big Horn County Montana, southern Rosebud, and Powder River Counties, plus Sheridan County Wyoming. Gusts of over 60 miles an hour are possible through the day.

Temperatures will be very mild today, with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Expect a mix of clouds and sunshine.

A vigorous cold front moves through the area, producing mountain rain and snow, and the potential for showers is likely greater towards Miles City, Terry, extending North towards Jordan and Glendive.

Expect a significant drop in the temperatures for Wednesday, with the highs mainly in the 40s.

A chance of showers moves through the area Wednesday night into Thursday. But, the big impact will be a drop in the temperatures to the 30s for the rest of the week and through the weekend.

Billings forecast:

Tuesday… Decreasing clouds, with a high near 63. Winds could gust his high as 50 mph.

Tuesday night… Partly cloudy, with wind gusts to around 40 miles an hour through the evening. A low of about 36

Wednesday… Partly sunny with a chance of an afternoon shower. Cooler, at around 48 for the high.
