Nice for now, but winter will return
0 0

Click for 7 Day ForecastMild temperatures continue through the weekend. But a significant change in the weather is on track for in the middle of next week.

A week cold front moved through overnight, and that will gradually reduce winds from Billings to the West throughout the morning hours. We will be left with sunshine mixed with a few clouds and highs mainly in the upper 40s to mid 50s.

A few mountain snow showers or a rain snow mix will move into the foothills this evening through Saturday. Otherwise, expect readings in the upper 40s to low 50s Saturday afternoon and trend a little bit warmer on Sunday through Tuesday.

Wednesday will act as a transition day, with the highs in the upper 40s to low 50s. A chance of showers develops by Wednesday evening.

Significantly cooler air could move into the area Wednesday night into Thursday causing areas of rain and snow showers to switch to all snow Thursday.

At this point, it doesn’t look like the drop in temperatures will be that much below average for this time of year, and the snowfall totals don’t appear to be extremely high. But, it does indicate a transition back into more winter-like conditions.

Billings forecast:

Friday… Mainly sunny, with a high near 55. A westerly wind 10 to 20 mph.

Friday night… Mostly to partly cloudy, with a low of about 32. Light winds.

Saturday… Partly to mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. An easterly breeze.
