Windy now, cold ahead

Despite some afternoon sunshine, the winds will make temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s feel chilly Wednesday afternoon. Top wind gusts across Eastern Montana could reach 40 to 50 mph.

Overnight temperatures will be mainly into the single digits to mid teens, with periods of wind through the evening hours.

Thursday remains somewhat breezy, with highs in the 20s to low 30s.

Friday will likely be the warmest day the week with highs well into the 30s, and possibly some afternoon readings in the low 40s. But, as a cold front moves in Friday night a chance of snow will develop with colder weekend temperatures.

Saturday and Sunday will likely be in the 20s for the highs with some periods of light snow possible.

By Monday, temperatures have crashed to the single digits for the highs, and overnight readings will drop back below zero most of next week.

Billings forecast:

Wednesday… Mostly sunny, with gusty afternoon winds. A high near 34, but when Gus could hit 40 to 50 mph.

Wednesday night… Mostly clear, with winds through the evening hours gusting to 40 mph a low of around 14.

Thursday… Increasing clouds but decreasing winds. Still breezy, with a high of about 29.
