There is a relatively quiet weather picture for Thursday and Friday, with a brisk of wind down the East slopes of the Rockies Thursday. Temperatures will be mainly in the mid to lower 30s with sunshine.
Overnight temperatures will be cool, with readings mainly into the teens early Friday.
By Saturday, a trough of low pressure starts to move into the area. Some snow could move into the higher terrain by Friday afternoon or evening, but the bulk of the moisture reaches us on Saturday and Sunday.
A large trough will bring accumulating snow, and much colder temperatures. Highs will be in the 20s on Saturday in the teens on Sunday for Christmas. Overnight readings of be mainly in the single digits above and below zero.
The chance of snow around the Billings area will be best Christmas Eve through Christmas morning. The highest accumulations will likely favor areas East of Miles City, with areas of blowing snow possible.

Thursday night… Increasing clouds, with a low near 18. Brisk West wind continues.
Friday… Partly sunny, with a high of about 31.
