Snow arrives with warmer weekend temperatures
0 0

A little warmer and moister air is creating snow showers across the region, with the warmest temperatures peaking on Sunday. Then, it is a return to more frigid temperatures.

As the warmer air glides over top of the cold air in place, periods of snow showers will continue today, tonight, and tomorrow.

Temperatures will be warmer the higher elevations, with highs mainly in the teens and 20s today West of Billings. Colder air trapped near the surface will keep readings in the single digits in teens from Billings to the East.

Snow totals will be higher in the mountains and foothills, but in general 1 to 3 inches total can be expected in the lower elevations through Sunday.

A cold front will arrive late Sunday night, and good chance of snow Monday in the Monday night. Temperatures will drop back to the teens in single digits for the highs the first of the week, with overnight temperatures in the single digits just above and below zero.

Billings forecast:

Friday… Cloudy to mostly cloudy with light accumulations of snow likely, especially in the morning. A high near 11.

Friday night… Cloudy with snow likely overnight. A low of about 6°.

Saturday mostly cloudy, with a high of about 25. A 40% chance of snow showers mainly in the morning.
