Cooler air is moving into the area, and plans to stick around for a while. The threat of strong to severe thunderstorms is moving away from the area with last night’s storm system.
The big story for the next few days will be cooler than average temperatures, with some breezy periods. Highs today will be mainly into the upper 70s to mid 80s, with Billings running 5° to 8° below seasonal averages.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon and evening, but the potential for severe weather is very low. Overnight temperatures will be mainly in the 50s.
This pattern should hold likely through Saturday, before we see a bump in the readings on Sunday and Monday pushing highs back to the 90s.
Billings forecast:
Today… Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. A little breezy at times, with a Northwest wind 10 to 20 mph.
Tonight… A slight risk of a shower thunderstorm during the evening, otherwise partly cloudy. A low of around 54.
Thursday… Much like Wednesday, mostly sunny with a high approaching 83. Isolated late day storms once again possible.
