Hot temperatures with wildfire risk
0 0

Hot temperatures and low humidity are expected across the region today. That greatly increases wildfire risk for this afternoon this evening, with the added potential of severe storms east of Billings.

High temperatures today will be mainly in the 90s, with the potential of 95 200 from Billings towards the East. Will start with sunshine, and generally light winds.

As a cold front approaches, gusty winds will develop. The combination of the heat, low humidity, and these gusty winds will greatly increase wildfire risk from this afternoon through Wednesday.

Additionally, there is a potential for storm activity that could create damaging winds and hail East of Billings by this evening.

Despite cooler temperatures tomorrow, low humidity and gusty winds will continue to elevate the wildfire risk.

Billings forecast:

Today… Sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Light winds during the day.

Tonight… A slight risk of thunderstorms with the potential of gusty winds during the evening. Partly cloudy, and about 65 for an overnight low. Wildfire risk will increase.

Wednesday… Sunny with a high around 88. Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon.
