Afternoon highs today will be a few degrees cooler than yesterday, with a little less thunderstorm activity. But the heat remains over the next week, with increased wildfire risk by Friday.
Some isolated thunderstorms will be possible late this afternoon and early this evening, especially in areas East of Billings. High temperatures today will be mainly into the 90s, could still get some triple digits in extreme Eastern Montana northern Wyoming.
Temperatures will be slightly warmer tomorrow, with highs hitting mainly the 90s with plenty of sunshine. Overnight temperatures the next few evenings will stay in the 50s and 60s.
Friday afternoon, a cold front will start to move into the area. That will spike temperatures well into the 90s to triple digits, and produce some gusty winds. The combination of hot temperatures, wind, and low humidity will increase the danger for wildfire starts.
Billings forecast:
Today… Sunny and hot, with a high near 94. Light northerly breeze today.
Tonight… Mostly clear, with a low at around 62.
Thursday… Sunny and hot again, and about 97 for the high temperature.
