Hot, with any storms doing more harm than good
0 0

Hot and generally dry weather is expected for today, and continuing through the week. While isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible, they will likely produce little rainfall and aggravate wildfire conditions.

High temperatures today will be mainly into the 90s, with some triple digits possible East of Billings. With excellent instability in the atmosphere, there is at least a slight potential for strong to severe storms from Billings to the East producing mainly gusty winds and hail.

After lows drop to the upper 50s to 60s, tomorrow will have another chance for some mountain shower activity. Otherwise, expect another hot and dry day with the potential for upper 90s to triple digit afternoon readings.

The pattern of hot and dry conditions continues likely into the end of the week, with the hottest days likely through Wednesday. Generally dry conditions will continue, so isolated storms that do form could increase wildfire risk with wind and lightning strikes.

Billings forecast:

Today… Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Light East breeze turns to the Southwest.

Tonight… Mostly clear, with a low around 62. A light breeze continues

Tuesday… Continued sunny and hot, with a high close to 100°.
