Another chance at storms today

Scattered storms are expected to form along the foothills and mountains for later on this afternoon area that brings the possibility of strong to severe storms into the lower elevations during the late afternoon and evening.

High temperatures today will range from the 60s in the foothills, to the low 80s across Eastern Montana. A week disturbance early in the day brings a chance of showers to around the Billings area.

By this afternoon this evening, any storms that form will likely produce gusty winds and small hail. Isolated storms could even turn severe with larger hail and wind gusts in excess of 60 mph. Use caution and take cover if storms approach, with lightning as a threat with any storms.

Cloud cover could be key today. The disturbance early in the day could leave some lingering afternoon clouds. Without some breaks of afternoon sunshine, the chance of severe storms around the Billings area of will greatly decrease.

Billings forecast:

Today… A mix of clouds and sun with a chance of daytime showers. High at around 74.

Tonight… Scattered afternoon and evening storms that could produce small hail and gusty winds. Otherwise, mostly cloudy with a low at about 52.

Saturday… Partly sunny with a chance of a shower thunderstorm in the afternoon or early evening. Around 76 for a high.
