An early morning cold front brought an initial push of rain into the area. As a low pressure area moves in, rain showers will increase this afternoon. Snow is likely in the higher elevations by tonight, and rain, snow and wind will highlight a cooler Tuesday.
Showers will increase from west to east this afternoon and this evening. Rain is likely in much of the area overnight. Snow is likely in the mountains, and the Red Lodge foothills could pick up 2 to 5 inches overnight.
Rain will continue Tuesday, especially in areas from Billings to the east. Very gusty northwest winds can be expected tonight through tomorrow.
Temperatures will range from the 40s west of Billings to the upper 60s in the eastern edge of Montana. Tuesday will be mainly in the 40s across the entire area.
Billings forecast:
Today…Increasing clouds and increasing showers. West wind 5 to 15 mph. High near 55, but could drop this afternoon.
Tonight…Showers turning to a steadier rain overnight. Low about 39. Northerly wind will increase 15 to 25 mph.
Tuesday…Rain. Wind gusts to about 40 mph. Around 45 for a high.
