Record warm ahead

Perhaps the biggest questions in the weather will be, how close will we come to a record high this afternoon, and how much will we break the record tomorrow afternoon? Sunny, very warm and dry conditions prevail until Friday.

A few mountain thunderstorms are possible in the mountains West of Billings this afternoon. Otherwise, it will be very warm and dry with temperatures in the lower to mid 80s. The humidity will be very low.

After a mild start on Thursday, we will likely break some record highs tomorrow afternoon. Both Billings and Miles City have a pretty good chance of breaking May 5th high temperature records, with highs in the mid-80s to around 90°.

Cooler air arrives Friday, with the chance of some showers or thunderstorms. Best chance of rain is from Friday evening through Saturday morning, although it only looks like scattered showers by the time the Montana Women’s Run gets started.

Billings forecast:

Today… Sunny, with a high near 84. The record high for today is 87. Southwest breeze 5 to 15 mph.

Tonight… Mostly clear, with a low around 53.

Thursday… The record high is 84. With sunshine and an approaching cold front, the afternoon high will be near 88.
