Citizens of Billings & Yellowstone County are being asked to be aware of a Warrant Scam. Unknown suspect(s) are contacting citizens over the phone, telling them they have a warrant for their arrest, & that they can “fix” the whole thing with a debit card.

It is unknown if the contacted citizens have a warrant or not. The suspect(s) are also using the tactic of providing the addresses of local law enforcement offices to convince the citizen they are legitimate.

DO NOT provide your debit card number or any credit card number over the phone. DO NOT provide any personal information over the phone, such as your date of birth or your social security number.

Law Enforcement may contact citizens & tell them they have a warrant; however, law enforcement will not ask for any type of payment over the phone.
