At 1015 this morning , Airport police were dispatched to the report of an unknown male who was on foot, running across the runways.  The male, later identified as 46 yr old Shawn Lamere, had walked into the Edwards Jet Center and then ran past employees and a doorway that led out onto the apron.  Lamere then ran north across the airport property, crossing the runways for approx. 300 yards until he reached the Fire Management aircraft hangers.  Lamere ran to an Avero RJ 85 tanker (used for dispensing fire retardant) which was parked outside of a hanger.  Lamere gained climbed a ladder and was entering the aircraft when he was stopped by Fire Management crews and Airport PD.  Lamere was suspected of being under the influence of methamphetamine and was transported to YCDF where he is being held on a State criminal trespassing charge.  Lamere may face federal charges.  The incident is still under investigation.
