Singh Contracting Joins Phillips 66 as Lead Donor to Interpretive Site Veterans were honored during the Billings Chamber’s Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Yellowstone Kelly Interpretive Site (YKIS) in Swords Rimrock Park yesterday.
In addition to honoring Luther Sage “Yellowstone” Kelly for his service during three wars, the Mayor presented the Casper Platoon attendees with individual appreciation certificates for service to our country. In return, the Casper Platoon presented 50th anniversary Vietnam War pins to all Vietnam veterans in attendance.
Along with honoring veterans, the ceremony hosted other significant announcements. An additional $100,000 was pledged to the YKIS revitalization effort: $80,000 from Singh Contracting, $15,000 from KOA and $5,000 from First Interstate Bank.
“The $80,000 from Singh Contracting is the second premier gift made to the effort, making Singh Contracting a presenting investor along with Phillips 66,” explained John Brewer, President and CEO of the Billings Chamber of Commerce. “Seeing major community partners step forward to support this initiative demonstrates how valuable the entire effort is to the Billings community.”
“The Billings community has been very good to us,” shared Harvey Singh, owner of Singh Contracting. “All of us at Singh Contracting are so grateful for the opportunities and success we have seen in such a short time, which is why we give back in so many ways. I believe this to be one of the greatest places in the country to live, work, and play. The reason the Yellowstone Kelly Interpretive Site is so important is because, not only will it restore a legacy, it will also establish a major attraction for this community, which, I believe, will invoke more positive change and spawn greater interest to this great place we call home.”
A contingent from Paradise, California, the community in which Kelly and his wife, May, lived their final years, traveled to Billings for this event to pledge their support of the Yellowstone Kelly Interpretive Site. Mayor Hanel presented a certificate of honor to the group acknowledging our joint efforts toward the common good of promoting and restoring Kelly’s legacy.
With $220,000 in significant contributions announced by the YKIS Steering Committee in the last two months, the committee announced it is now just $20,000 from its $500,000 goal.
