At 4:17am 4/11/2016 , Billings Police Officers responded to the report of a robbery which had occurred at the Blue Basket convenience store located at 2347 Main St in the Heights. An unknown male entered the store, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk attempted to call 911 from a cell phone at which point the suspect fired the pistol at the clerk striking the phone. The bullet destroyed the phone and exited through a store window. The suspect’s gun jammed and the suspect fled out of the business without gaining any money. The store clerk was uninjured in the incident. The suspect was wearing a black hoodie with a bandanna concealing his face. The convenience store was closed for a short time while officers and detectives processed the crime scene.
On 4/11/16 at approx. 1:15 AM BPD Officers were dispatched to a robbery report at 910 Broadwater Ave (Tap Inn). The male employee and patrons reported that 2 males and a female entered and displayed handguns. The employee and patrons were unharmed and stated the suspects were wearing a bandana and gloves to disguise themselves. After getting an undisclosed amount of money they left the business and were not located by Officers. The investigation is ongoing.
