Guest Speakers at Montana Energy 2016

 
Senator Steve Daines today announced that Ryan Lance, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ConocoPhillips, and Joseph Bryant, Chairman and CEO of Cobalt International Energy, will be featured at Montana Energy 2016 as keynote speakers.  

“I’m excited to announce that Ryan Lance and Joe Bryant will be joining us as keynote speakers at Montana Energy 2016. Both of these individuals bring incredible real-world experience and perspective to the conversation about Montana’s – and our nation’s –energy future,” Daines stated. “With almost 70 years of combined energy industry experience between them, Ryan and Joe fully understand the impact of vast technological improvements in energy development and the factors influencing global oil markets. Their presence at Montana Energy 2016 will be a vital part of the conversation about Montana’s role in the nation’s energy sector.”

Montana Energy 2016 will be held in Billings on March 30-31 and will serve as the largest avenue to discuss Montana’s energy potential. It is back for a third round this spring with a fresh new look and perspective. Led by Daines, the two-day comprehensive conference will continue the discussion around state and national energy opportunities and provide an all-encompassing look at Montana’s energy potential. 

Ryan Lance has served as chairman and chief executive officer of ConocoPhillips, the world’s largest independent exploration and production company based on production and reserves, since 2012. A petroleum engineer, Ryan has 32 years of oil industry experience in executive and technical positions with ConocoPhillips, predecessor Phillips Petroleum and ARCO. Externally, Ryan is chairman of the American Petroleum Institute, a member of the board of directors for Montana Tech Foundation, and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from Montana Tech in Butte in 1985. 

Joseph Bryant is the founder and has served as chairman and chief executive officer of Cobalt International Energy, a premier deepwater exploration and production company with Montana roots, since 2005, and has 39 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to forming Cobalt, Joe was President and Chief Operating Officer of Unocal Corporation and has also held executive positions throughout the world with BP and Amoco.  He began his career as an engineer for Amoco in Powell, Wyoming with responsibilities in the Williston Basin of Montana and North Dakota. Joe served on the board of directors of Berry Petroleum Company from October 2005 until May 2011 and currently serves on the board of directors of the American Petroleum Institute and Winter Sports, Inc. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nebraska in 1977.
