Governor Bullock signed the Firefighter Protection Act and lowered the flags to half staff in honor of all Montana firefighters who have lost their lives from a job-related illness in the line of duty
Standing alongside firefighters from across Montana and the families of fallen heroes, Governor Bullock signed the Firefighter Protection Act into law. The bill’s passage comes after a nearly 20 year long fight to enact it, including attempts every session Governor Bullock has been in office.
“For nearly two decades – in every single legislative session – Montana firefighters have fought tooth and nail for this day to happen. You let everyone know in this Capitol building that this legislation is not only just for you, it’s for every firefighter who will one day be called to service, putting their boots on for the next shift. And because of you, presumptive illness will now be a law on the books. I can’t thank you enough.”
